Conservation & Threats

Relatively little is known regarding the life history, ecology and wider distribution of Scintilla spp. and these aspects need to be investigated before any threats to the species can be identified. Its local distribution on Heron Island indicates that the main potential threats would be pollution, run-off and beachfront development. As Heron Island is protected under legislation, these scenarios do not pose a threat to the Heron Island population of Scintilla spp.
